The rush fee covers the extra work involved to arrange a workshop on short notice. It is not a "penalty."
Out of courtesy for my schedule, please book at least two weeks in advance when possible, preferrably six weeks.
Occasionally, it is more convenient to schedule a workshop fewer than two weeks in advance. I of course do not charge a fee in these circumstances. |
| - fee - |
- A deposit of 1/2 of the estimated total cost is taken to book a workshop. The balance is charged upon completion of the ring.
- A $100 fee is charged to customers who pay deposits fewer than two weeks in advance of workshop.
- Any workshops arranged less than 1 week in advance must be paid in full upon booking. |

In order to make the advanced project of creating a custom engagement ring a reality for customers without metalsmithing experience, work must be done behind the scenes. Some examples are:
- precious metals & stones are ordered for each individual project
- an entire day must be cleared from my schedule
- sometimes specialty tools must be purchased
- occasionally stones that don't meet my quality requirements are returned and reordered.
- design work must be done for custom rings
While I usually give priority to workshop customers over custom orders, the later a client books, the more re-arranging of my schedule must take place in order to accommodate that client.
Occasionally, customers find me less than two weeks before they plan to propose or get married. I am usually happy to accommodate, but it still takes more work to make the project happen on short notice.
For customers who are researching their options, PLEASE set a deadline of a minimum of two weeks before your preferred workshop date to make a decision. I would much rather plan your ring workshop in a timely manner than charge a rush fee.
